I am going to address this very subject in another thread but I believe you are correct that the hardware was made for a version of Windows and that version will run the best
on it as I have just had a very similar situation myself this last week. If you don't find chipset driver and other motherboard drivers for Windows 7 you will never run right and will need to go back to 8 I think.

Most systems that run 7 will have the drivers for 8 albeit some OEM systems do not so lets see if all the posters drivers are installed.

    To the OP:

I'm a wee bit late to the party, maybe... this is what I was going to advise before I read all the way through the thread... though could, still, be done.

@ one point I read you went from 8 to 10. Having done that it put you in a position where you could do a Custom Install of Windows 10 on that same machine. And, actually, you, still, could. But, wipe 7 off the drive 1st. Putting 7 on that machine does not work for me, @ all.

When 10 was being weird should have just done a Custom Install w/ it. But, do it now... it will, still, recognise the machine.

Also, create your media from the current MCT; then you're sure to have all the past updates @ the time of install.

    Cheers,
    Drew
