I'm Erik (62), I live in Antwerp (Belgium), my 1st language = Dutch, my 2nd language = English, which means I'm able to express myself in English, as long it's about computers.
I was an assistant accountant for many years. After that I worked as a pure application analyst in the computer-department of the same company. I didn't know anything about computers (mainframes), but that wasn't necessary to do this job. I was born with a logical, analytical mind and that's what you need as an application analyst.

Because of my total lack of computer-knowledge, my first home-computer was nothing but a honeypot, full of malware and malfunctioning. My solution in those days was re-installing my computer manually from scratch.
Over the years, I improved my security by learning from computer-experts in forums and other security websites.
I always know what I want, but I never know how to do it and it took me 3 years of my free time, to learn the basic stuff about computers/softwares/malware and I also learned that every software sucks, but some softwares suck more than others and this applies also to security softwares.
Although my computer was protected by a classical security setup, I still got in trouble regularly and that was bothering me the most. It was good but not good enough. I wanted something close to perfect.

I removed everything of classical security-setup : scanners, registry softwares, cleaning softwares, ...
and I designed a total new security-setup, mainly based on recovery, rather than on security.
It wasn't that difficult, most people replace their dirty shirt with a clean shirt.
I do the same with my dirty system partition-C, I replace it with a clean partition-C during each reboot.
After that my computer became a paradise in the next 5 years until now, without wasting my time on cleaning and malware removal and that was close to perfect. B)

Welcome to Computer Help Forums Erik. This thread is mainly for introductions but as far as your malware methods, if they work for you that is great. New ideas are always welcome.

Hi and welcome to CHF sounds like you have a talent for "thinking outside the Box" to come up with a solution to a problem, but surlet replacing you C drive partition on every boot would mean that you have a 20-30 min boot time, not to mention updates?

That's right, I'm a member of several computer-forums in Belgium, Netherlands, England and America and I always use the same nickname. I don't need to hide myself behind different nicknames, I don't have multiple personalities inside me, but I do have crazy ideas. :)

    Hi Erik ...

Sorry it's taken me so very long to welcome you ... I've been aware for awhile and have so, so much catching up to do but the first thing I wanted to do was say hi to our newest members.

I smiled when I read the words within your introduction of "that every software sucks, but some softwares suck more than others" - gracious, please don't let all the lovely software designers that let me use their work free know - know that - huge gentle grin! (Do know that some can be rarely frustrating and some are far from perfect - but then again, so am I :snckr:),

Really do hope you enjoy being a member of our Computer Help Forum, Erik - we've got a really great bunch of people here that sincerely care about helping others and again, welcome.
