Did you uninstall it using the Device Manager? Let us know if you need instructions to do that.

You said in one of your posts that this was a new laptop. Instead of "tweaking" something that is new, take it back while it is still under warranty and have it fixed. You should not have to fix any hardware in a new laptop. It should work perfectly. There might be some sort of hardware fault.

Same problem when temporarily booting and running a different Operating System from a "Live" USB flash drive?

A Live USB flash drive contains a complete bootable computer operating system (OS) on it. When you boot a computer from it, the OS loads into, and then runs from your computer's memory instead of from the hard drive/SSD. This allows you to run an OS without installing it or making any changes whatsoever to your computer's current configuration.

To create one, download an ISO file containing the OS you want to use, (such as Zorin), then use something like ISO Recorder to burn it to a USB flash drive.

Now boot your computer from this USB flash drive and it will be running that OS.

Now check and see if the DVDRW GUE1N is working. When you're done testing, simply remove the USB flash drive and reboot your computer as you normally would.

If the problem persists even when running a different OS though, then the issue is probably hardware related. Replacement DVDRW GUE1N's start at about $10 on eBay. https://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_fr...XDVDRW+GUE1N+.TRS1&_nkw=DVDRW+GUE1N+&_sacat=0

 If it's new and not working, return it for a replacement of refund.

Why not call them and see if they can send you box or maybe get drive replaced under the warranty that is if the warranty is still any good and you did not waited to long to do so.

Have you tried to remove and reinsert the drive so see if corrects the issue?

    Has the drive ever worked?

I should see if it's still under warranty, I'm not sure how to remove the drive. The drive has never worked

See what the manufacture states about getting it fixed under the warranty.
What is the make and model of the laptop.
It may have come slightly jarred and or misaligned and sometimes re-seating the drives helps correct this.
If this does not correct the issue others may have more suggestions.
Other wise I would suggest replacing the drive.
