I did a refresh awhile back, but I will try it again! ..Also is Firefox the best browser to be using, I was considering Chrome but was told is has a bigger footprint, and I don't need to take up even more memory!

Rustys ...The computer is still running much better, all of the window ghosting and occasional freezing is gone! It does however sometimes take quite awhile to open other web pages, but when I close a window or two, it connects to the page within a few seconds! I don't know if that's a problem, or it's due to needing more Ram memory! I'm also suspecting my modem may play a part in this, Comcast has sent me notices that I should upgrade to a DOC SIS 3.0 as I am still with the older 2.0

 

If you rent the modem and it will not cost extra then I would say go for it.

Now as far as the RAM with the system being as old as it is may help yet like others have said you may not notice much of a change in performance.

Honestly would save my money and get a newer and more up to date system. Which we can definitely help you figure out what you need and find something with in your budget.

 

Thanks Rustys Sorry for the delayed reply, but I started experiencing some real problems after uninstalling an updater to a Quicktime video viewer, which I already removed weeks ago. Pages were repeating their headings over and over down the page, and all sorts of other graphic abnormalities! Finally after rebooting it all straightened out though, and it seems to be it's normal self again. I agree with what you said above, I think I will be looking into a new machine as this one is not worth putting any more money into! and again Thank you for all of your help! ...John
