hey all, just a quick question for those who use comodo firewall with
media programs like dvd converters etc etc.

Ive been trying to make a dvd of personal avi clips into a dvd, now the
software i use it allok avi2dvd, however each time i convert the files
which works fine, at the end of completion, the fireall pops up and
basicly says its going to execute allok bla bla, it says if i use this
application and trust it, then press allow, which ive done, ive also
blocked it, anyway after that their is nooooo dvd files left at all,
which normally it would create the dvd files for me where ive saved them
to burn. is this a firewall issue? cause this is really annoying and ill
rather not use comodo as a firewall if its going to do execute and
delete the files ive just created...just makes no sence to me. iam lost

    appreciate any suggestions.

The dvd program is trying to connect to a network for some reason, whether
local or internet. Comodo is doing what it is supposed to by confirming with
you that the program is allowed to make outbound connections. It's up to you
whether or not to allow it but it seems to be that the program aborts if you
don't allow it to connect. Somewhere along the line you did block the
connection(s) with Comodo. With Vista you don't actually need Comodo or any
other 3rd party firewall. You can try disabling Comodo completely to see if
the dvd program starts working normally. You could also try deleting the dvd
program from Comodo's programs list. Hopefully the block on it will be
cleared and Comodo will redetect the program from scratch.

i was wondering if i should just use the firewall that came with
windows, alot of people say get comodo cause they think its safer and
the windows firewall lets any connections in so iam confused about that
now...anyway i think your right i prolly blocked it so i installed
another dvd software and it worked as normal when i allowed comodo to
connect. iam just wondering if i should keep comodo or keep the vista
    installed one hmmmmmm

    cheers for the reply.

  4. If you are a home user with a Router/firewall, the Windows Vista Firewall
with a good anti-virus program (AVG) you don't need Comodo.

hey you know what i think i solved the issue as i burnt my dvd with
completion this time around...comodo is not giving me any trouble but it
does pop up like everytime i open up a program so i just read carefully
before i allow the connection. I think if i do have future issues i will
just go back to vista firewall, i do use avast anti virus so hopefully
it will be fine...i will admit with my pc i was installing all types of
programs and torrent programs which i know caused so many issues, this
laptop is 5 days old so iam tossing that behaviour out lol.

Thanks for all the replies, appreciate it all
