Canon ip3000 printer suddenly will not print

Discussion in 'Windows Vista' started by weewillie@anon.com, Sep 23, 2009.

  1. Using vista business sp2
Have had the printer for several years and it works flawlessly
3 days ago it suddenly refused to print
When I look at the printer folder, it is default but it says it's
    offline
I can't find out how to make it go online

From 'justanswer' I was told to do a restor, so I've tried going back
a couple of restores, but they both failed, then had to undo the
restores to get back to where I was

In safe mode I removed the printer
then added it back by re-installing its software

sometimes vista asks me to say which port, but as it's usb plugnplay I
dont know how to handle it

I've tried resetting the printer from this website

I'm at my wits end, how do I get my printer back?

    David

Sounds like the printer went south.
    They do fail.
Can you try the printer on any other PC?

Can you do a user test print from the printer?

If I ask for a test print it goes into the print queue and stays there
not quite sure what a 'user test print' is?

Prints fine on an xp m/c which is also on my network
when I go back to the vista m/c to add it as a network printer, vista
sees it, I name it then when it finishes the 'add printer' command
vista oddly adds it as the printer which is offline not the network
    name I give it

It is vista SP2 causing the problem. I am having a similar issue. The
only solution I have seen so far is to uninstall the SP2. I am still
    searching for a better solution.

    I don't see it as a specific sp2 issue
After a week of 'vista hell', the printer suddenly started working
    again
