    I don't know why, but I can't get microsoft.com to load. I keep getting
    this message:
    Address Not Found
Firefox can't find the server at 'Microsoft Corporation'
The browser could not find the host server for the provided address.

    * Did you make a mistake when typing the domain? (e.g.
    "ww.mozilla.org" instead of "www.mozilla.org")
    * Are you certain this domain address exists? Its registration may
    have expired.
    * Are you unable to browse other sites? Check your network
    connection and DNS server settings.
    * Is your computer or network protected by a firewall or proxy?
Incorrect settings can interfere with Web browsing.

I don't know how to fix this problem because it's never happened
before. I've always been able to connect.

They where probably just doing maintenance on the site when you where
trying to log on, its o big deal people get it all the time on any site.

What happens if you try to get to it by IP address:
    http://65.55.12.249/ ?

Did you try clearing the FF cache and rebooting windows?

  4. Can you access Symantec.com?
If you can't, goto Google and enter a test search.
if you get strange results, pointing mostly to ads/commercials, you're in
    big trouble.

You could be hijacked and you need antivirus tobe updated via FTP site on
ANOTHER computer, then load it on yours and run it in SAFE mode, not in
    regular windows.

But if you can load Symantec, it maybe just Microsoft was down at the time
    which is highly suspicious.
Microsoft is like a public utility - their downtime is an exceedingly low
    probablity event.
It's like Verizon, ATT or US Military going offline. SO it's strange.

Go check if you can load Antivirus & security websites, if they're all
    blocked, you're infected.

  5. If you can load same site in InternetExplorer, obviously problem is with
    Firefox.

If you determine Firefox is bad, but IE is good, I am not sure if folks can
help you here as it is a Microsoft Newsgoup.
Perhaps you may want to upgrade to IE8 and get rid of Mozilla, I've been
using IE6, 7, and now 8 and all it requires is an hour or 2 hours to
customize, kill various add-ons/toolbars/gimmicks and it woks wonderful.
it just takes time to customize, I am a customizing freak. I never accept
software out of the box, it has to be "my version".

So what I like about IE8 besides speed, technical advancement, is
    customizability.
I even disabled Tabbed browsing so it runs in Classic mode.

I override websites colors, fonts and styles.
Not sure if Mozilla can compare.

While Vista is garbage, IE is excellent. I am hoping for Windows7 to b e as
functional as WinXP and so I could too praise Microsoft.

  6. Any number of malware programs block access to certain web sites, so how
sure are you that you have not picked up an unwanted guest from somewhere?
A full virus scan and at least one or two spyware/adware scans would be in
    order here, I think.

I can acces the site from their IP, but I can't click anything.
Richard: I don't know if norton might have blocked microsoft, but i'm
thinking about just uninstalling it and installing a new one by
microsoft, but it may not work because I can't make any connection with
    the site.

That says that something is blocking you from using, or translating,
the name www.microsoft.com to an IP address.

    Try this:

    start a command window (start>all programs>accessories>command prompt)

    type nslookup www.microsoft.com

    Post the results

    While you're there, type ipconfig/all

    Post those results too

    paste isn't working.

Allowing for some typos you might have made in the nslookup info you
posted, it looks like your DNS resolution is OK.

Have you tried using another browser? I noticed you mentioned FFox in
your other post. What happens if you try to get there with MSIE? That
will help further identify where the problem is coming from (specific
or the browser or to your computer).
