There is nothing much new in IE 8. Jut 2 or 3 new features are added to
    the older one....

Thank you for answering my questions instead of ranting & raving about Ubuntu
    & cussing.

I've tried Firefox & Opera & Chrome & Safari & IE. In fact, I've used
Firefox for years. Not too long ago, I was using the latest version of
Firefox &, without any warning, I got a BSOD. I restarted Vista & opened
Firefox again & immediately, I got another BSOD! There's something about
Firefox that Vista doesn't like. So, I went back to IE 8 & haven't had any
    problems.

Interesting, because I'm using Firefox and Thunderbird on Vista right
now, and I haven't had any problems. I installed them normally,
imported the bookmarks, etc., and carefully chose which add-ons I use.

I wish I knew more so we could figure out how to fix your Firefox
problem, too. Everyone should be able to use their preferred programs.
