Oh really? He post his linux spamming trolling drivel in here on a daily
    basis.

    but you, Frank,
continue to post accusations and argumentative replies, instigating
    flames. Put away the matches.

Lets be clear...I use Vista/Windows 7 as my OS's...he doesn't. He is an
MS hating lying linux troll...as we all know. He has targeted this ng as
his outlet for his MS HATRED AND HIS LINUX SPAMMING & TROLLING.
He painted the very large and very obvious bullseye on his back...not me.
    I'm just a good shot! :)

    Let's get something straight, ok?

He does not start topics, arguments, flames, name calling, personal
attacks, etc., the way he used to, but *you* still spend most of your
time trolling for his replies rather than discussing anything, including
    Vista, with anyone else.

In your over zealous attempts to make him leave, which will never
happen, you turned into the troll. Almost all of his claims that anyone
is lying are a direct response to posts calling him a liar first.

His attitude has matured and yours has not. He can carry on an actual
discussion, but you choose to waste all your free time spitting at him
and anyone else that tries to be civil to him.

A few years ago, I did not leave these groups because of Alias. I left
because of all the immature and idiotic flaming and name calling by you
and a few others. This is one of *my* newsgroups, too, and I had to get
away from it to regain my happy thoughts.

Put away the matches and stop fanning the flames!

Note: This study does not compare browser security related to
vulnerabilities in plug‐ins or the browsers themselves.

So what do you suppose it proves?

Sorry to hear that I am the main cause of your discontentment. alias is
nothing but a lying, insulting POS linturd spamming troll.
    Nothing more and nothing less.
If you are so enamored with him and unset with me then kill file me.

Put away the matches and stop fanning the flames!

Sorry, but my noble cause to refute alias and his lies & spam and to
announce to everyone in here that he is in fact a lying spamming linux
    troll.

    "EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
During July, 2009 NSS Labs performed the second test of web browser
protection against socially engineered malware - the most common and
impactful security threat facing Internet users today.1 This report
followed the same Live Testing methodology as the test conducted in Q1
    2009, (see:
    ). It is based upon
empirically validated evidence gathered during 12 days of 24x7 testing,
performed every 4 hours, over 69 discrete test runs, each one adding
fresh new malware URLs. Each product was updated to the most current
version available at the time testing began, and allowed access to the
    live Internet.
    1%7%21%27%81%0%20%40%60%80%Opera 10Chrome 2Safari 4Firefox 3Internet
Explorer 8Mean Block Rate for Socially Engineered Malware
Internet Explorer 8 caught 81% of the live threats, an exceptional score
which surpassed the next best browser (Firefox 3) by a 54% margin.
Windows Internet Explorer 8 improved 12% between Q1 and Q2 tests,
evidence of concerted efforts Microsoft is making in the SmartScreen
    technology.
Firefox 3 caught 27% of live threats, far fewer than Internet Explorer
    8. It was, however, the best among products utilizing the Google
SafeBrowsing API. (Note: Firefox 3.5 was not stable enough to be tested
during the course of this test. A patch has subsequently become
available to address the stability issue. We were able to manually
verify that the protection was identical between versions 3.0.11 and 3.5).
Safari 4 caught 21% of live threats. Overall protection varied greatly,
with two short periods of severe dips.
Chrome 2 caught just 7% of live threats an 8% drop from the previous test.
Opera 10 Beta caught a mere 1% of live threats, providing virtually no
protection against socially engineered malware. In our test bed
validation, we verified there was effectively no difference between
Opera 9 and Opera 10 Beta."

No anti virus. No anti malware program. Everything you try to open

If you were to read the entire report, what this doesn't say is that the
    'browsers' don't actually block anything.

Each of them goes to some list of blocked sites maintained somewhere,
either each publisher has it available via the internet, meaning each
browser contact wherever and see if the site was blocked or not...or, it
'updates' a list it holds locally that it checks first.

At least that's what I got out of it........

So it's not really a study of which browser is more secure, its a study of
which list is kept up to date better.

Sorry. I've not made a fool of myself. You just couldn't write anything

None. Nuke Vista and install a truly safe OS like Ubuntu. It's free and
comes with access to thousands of free programs. Get it at

The answer is that is can't be done. Windows and IE are, by nature, like
a sieve. If you nuke Vista and install Ubuntu, you will be secure. This
is not a rant or a rave but a fact.

No, Vista and IE8 are Not immune to virus or malware infections. That's
why you also need Firewalls, AntiVirus and AntiSpyware programs.

The Administrator runs as a Standard User With Extra Privileges, but a
real Standard User requires the Adminstrator password to do such things
as override the User Account Control, which prevents malware from
    installing itself silently.

You can't fully lock down Vista or IE8, or any versions of Windows or
IE, you can only make it *safer* though less functional. Change all the
script and download options to either Prompt or Disabled, but this will
sometimes prevent some web pages from loading correctly.
