The appdata folder on my laptop is having trouble. When I try to install
a program, it says "cannot access %appdata% when i go to it manually,
it's there, and i can go into it, but many of my programs are not
working right without it. What is going on, and how can I fix it?
    preferrably without reformatting?

If you type 'set' at a cmd.exe prompt you should get a list of these
'Environment variables' for your machine. If 'appdata' is missing from the
list, then you could add back in via ...

Right-click Computer > Properties > Advanced System Settings > Environment
    Variables > Click 'New..'
