Looking 4 A Free Anti-Virus Product 4 Home Usage As Avast Has Been Coming In
At 1st Place 4 Some Time Now In Detecting Viruses And Spyware, And Avast Is
Now Also Working On A New Release Of Avast 5.0 As Well.

Isn't Avast H/E Free going to be terminated at the end of this year?
If not, that would have been my recommendation also.

  6. No, It Is Not Going 2 Be Terminated, As Avast Is Currently Has A New Avast
5.0 Home Edition Beta Available 4 Download (The Download Link Is In Their
    Avast Forums Website).

I've seen this rumor before. I think it's only around because Avast
expires after one year and forces you to re-register to continue to
use it. But, I've seen no plans to actually charge for it.

As to the OP's question: Use Avast. Low system load, high ratings in
    tests.

People don't want to use that INFERIOR Ubuntu because that INFERIOR Ubuntu won't run the
programs that most Windows users have. That makes that INFERIOR Ubuntu worth exactly what you
    pay for it: NOTHING

    Just FYI.
