    Hey Gene...

    Would you believe this??

I did exactly what you said and the game (FSX) installed this time without
crashing! It even put an icon on the desktop.... Eureka! I thought......

And now for the bad news.... when I tried to start it I got exactly the same
error pointing also to the exactly the same dll file - ntdll.dll.

Naturally I tried tried setting the compatibility of the core executable
fsx.exe to various different values but always the same error.

My hopes were temporarily lifted but now dashed :-(

    Thank you for your help.

    Jim

    Hi CH..

I downloaded and attempted to install the latest video driver for my PC and
I got almost exactly the same error when I attempted to run the executable
as when I attempted to install the game, showing that the very same dll
seems to be at the root.

Here is a paste of the error report...... (the highlighting stars are mine)

  3. I would have said to run the game in a virtual machine, but I wonder if a
virtual machine would cause a large performance hit and make the game
    unplayable.

OTOH, have your tried running the game in Administrator mode? See my
    brain-quake post...
