Have you tried booting up into Safe mode with networking, and check if that changes anything? That will only load the basic drivers and programs needed for the PC to run with an internet connection./

If all this fails, I would start to look towards a possible RAM issue, but we can decide that and find out more if you can grab us the BSOD error code :)

f your system If your system automatically restarts after the BSOD appears then follow these steps to disable that option so you can copy down the error code:

    1. Click on the Start button and then on Control Panel.
    2. Tip: In a hurry? Type system in the search box after clicking Start. Choose System under theControl Panel heading in the list of results and then skip to Step 4.
    3. Click on the System and Security link.
    4. Note: If you're viewing the Small icons or Large icons view of Control Panel, you won't see this link. Simply double-click on the System icon and proceed to Step 4.
    5. Click on the System link.
    6. In the task pane on the left, click the Advanced system settings link.
    7. Locate the Startup and Recovery section near the bottom of the window and click on the Settings button.
    8. In the Startup and Recovery window, locate and uncheck the check box next toAutomatically restart.
    9. Click OK in the Startup and Recovery window.
    10. Click OK in the System Properties window.
    11. You can now close the System window.

Well I ended up restoring a system image I made a few days after i got the laptop. it fixed the problem in firefox, but when I tried it in google chrome it still crashed. I think i am just going to go without chrome, I like firefox better anyway. should i be worried about this though? i found that a lenovo program that came pre-installed also causes a crash. could there be a hardware problem here? its still under warranty so it wouldnt be a big deal.

Well, it started happening again after I did a system restore. This time I reformatted my drive and did a fresh reinstall on windows 7 pro. Firefox would play videos fine for a bit but then after i installed google chrome it started crashing again. uninstalling chrome doesnt change anything and neither does any of the things i tried before. This is what it said on the BSOD, i hope it helps.

1 Did you run a RAM check yet? Not a likely cause, but worth looking at.

2 Also can be a malware issue you have not identified yet.

I ran that scan and it says it didn't find any integrity violations. I also ran Malwarebytes and it didn't find any problems either.

i ran the ESET scan and it found nothing. i also ran windows memory diagnostics and it said everything was fine, so i dont think it is a RAM problem. Stinger is running right now and i will let you know the results, but i am not too optimistic it will find anything. does the stop code i posted help at all? i looked up what the 0x00000124 means and found this:

    STOP Error 0x00000124: WHEA_UNCORRECTABLE_ERROR
STOP error 0x124 means that a fatal hardware error has occurred. uses the error data that is provided by the Windows Hardware Error Architecture (WHEA). STOP code 0x00000124 may also display "WHEA_UNCORRECTABLE_ERROR" on the same STOP message.

EDIT: stinger also did not find any problems. at least i am assuming so, after the scan finished all it said was 78232 clean files, and didnt mention any infected ones.

Great on the scans! Good job!

I am not into the stop codes, so cannot help there. (fatal hardware error pops out!)

Since we are at last ditch efforts here, you might wish to try

    And update your programs at

These are all favorite things I would run for my slow/ freezes.
It can really be a handful, as you know.

I was unable to access the first link you posted. "server not found" error.
I downloaded the program from the second link and ran it. the only update found was the beta version for firefox.

I never install beta updates, but its your choice.
Well, beta testing for Vista and 7, but that's different.
