    I may as well change the battery as the time/date does get on my nerves now :)

    That's odd Pete, something has to be turning it on. Stranger things have happened lets see if battery does anything to that problem.

    Finally got around to changing the Mb battery.
    Got an immediate startup.
    Went into bios and reset time/date etc.
    Now it only starts up when i actually press the power button. :)
    So it seems all the problems were caused by the dead battery!
