Kayrose I think you can see from the debate above that there are varying opinions about when a cleaner can be used. But as it applies to you I think the message is clear. Stay away from them and if you have an issue post it here and you will get help.

I am also going to go back to the entire concept of the support you have been getting. The fact that anyone can suggest that you use a registry cleaner and then suggest that you click NO when asked if you want to backup is really alarming. Personally I believe that the "Tech" did not want to wait until you completed the backup.

I now believe that this topic has gone on far beyond what was asked and suggest that if anyone still wants to debate this issue it should be in a new thread. This thread will remain open for kayrose to ask any question or make any comment.

To be honest, i've stopped recommending CCleaner.
I've never actually understood why it's so popular.
It's not as good as it's made out to be.

I've done a test many times in the past...
Run CCleaner and let it remove all the temp files etc.
Then run TFC ..... surprising how much CCleaner missed.
Plus, it's perfectly safe for even someone who has no idea of what they are doing..... you just click Start
    Totally foolproof. [IMG]

I am definitely going to contact a superviser or head honcho in the techs department and demand an answer as to why the tech told me to say NO.
if i get a decent answer I will post it here BeeCeeBee

or even if it isnt decent or does not meet my approval, lol , I will just post it anyway.
    and get your expertese ADVICE.

What I said and what others have said is that you should not be using Registry Cleaners or Registry Editors or Optimizers. They are dangerous unless you are familiar with and comfortable with registry changes. Cleaners such as that recommended by Starbuck that clean out your temporary files, Temporary Internet files etc. are a different story.

Clearly you are not in the category of people who should be using Registry Cleaners. Don't let that bother you though as I won't use them either.
