Windows7 Speech Recognition.

This is so Cool.
Presume you would be able to use this feature, to dictate Emails.?

I am sure it could be used for that - whether the recipient can read them or not is a different matter, speech recognition is 'shoddy' at best.

Ring a company and they have a voice recognition system they normally say say the name of the person you require so you say a name and its ALWAYS wrong.

 

Speech recognition has come along way, and improved vastly the other Day I phoned somewhere that asked my name and address using it and also the account number.

But...... I am from Birmingham and live in Wolverhampton, now if I'd have spoke the way I normally do when I'm out, then there would be no chance of it working. but saying that if I were to go out the west Mids (Black Country) and speak that way I may as well be speaking Swahili.

 

I will have to record 2 Languages.
Queens English and Aussie Slang.

 

One's curiosity is however aroused and so One would be finding it most appropriate to locate a microphone, and then to put some time aside to give this feature a small trial, just to see how practical and acceptable to one's own personal preferences this application would be.

Well the Queen might like talking I dun't so I'll just download it an ge it try.

 

I have been messing around with the speech recognition, it is cool and easy to use for the most part.

 

I agree,Patrick.I was going to get Dragon 10 $200 + for my XP, however now I also have Windows7,as well, I don't need Dragon 10.

I am very impressed with Windows7 Voice Recognition,so far.

 

I'm sure it's improved greatly over the past couple years. Two or three years ago I helped a friend set it up on her computer and the woe of having to repeat herself over and over - or worse, not working when she had a cold, etc was a tad hard on her. Glad to hear they've come a long way with it as it really must be a huge gift to so many.

 

Is there any way to set up you're own words, To open programs like, google chrome instead of having to say the whole thing i can just say chrome or some other word of my choosing?
