    Hello,
I have Windows 7 on my computer but it was installed by my brother and appears to be pirated. Due to this, I backed up my files and tried to install my legitimate copy of WIndows XP over top of it so I could use that and have full operating power (the pirated Windows 7 was lacking some things). However after managing do to this, I am stuck with Windows XP as my operating system; I'd forgotten how much better Windows 7 is and all my files are on Windows 7. I cannot figure out how to uninstall Windows XP and get back to Windows 7, which I believe I should be able to do because I did not uninstall or erase anything in the first place.
As you can probably tell, I know very little about computers and need pretty dumbed down help. I would like to get rid of Windows XP and get back to the original Windows 7 operating system. I tried uninstalling XP through safe mode but it did not show up in add/remove programs. Any help would be greatly appreciated, this problem has greatly fustrated me. Thanks a lot!

Hi wired282. Welcome to Computer Help Forums.
To remove XP Select "Start" > Right click on "my computer" > select "manage" > select "Disk Management"
    > Right click on the XP Partition and choose "Format" > Format to NTFS.
Be careful you choose the right partition.

I'd also recommend you get a legitimate copy of Windows 7, by the sounds of what you say I am of the opinion you have one of the copies of win 7 that has had "unused" parts stripped out to increase performance, which is OK for gaming, but can leave you open to vulnerabilities, and problems updating or validating, in short I wouldn't be checking my bank account online with your copy of win 7 and definitely wouldn't be using a credit card to purchase anything off the net.
