Running W7 HP on Dell desktop and Acer laptop. Recently was advised to download KB4463376 manually, as it does not appear on the Update screen. Should I do that, and, if so, how? All replies appreciated!

Yes, it needs to be downloaded manually from Microsoft update.
You can download it from HERE
It fixes issues with Internet Explorer.

Thanks for the "instant" response! Where do I look on my computer to see if I am x64 or x86?

Thank you. Is x64 the same as 64-bit operating system? (Yes, I'm a dummy)

Yes it is the same thing.

It is better to ask and confirm.

4463376 dated Sept 14th actually replaces 4457426 dated Sept 11th.
Both are Cumulative Security patches for IE on Windows 7 and 8.1.
There were problems with the 9/11 patch so MS apparently fixed something.

If you haven't yet installed 4457426, you do not need to. If you have, you do not need to remove it. Just grab 4463376 and install it.

If you try and install 32 bit on a 64 bit computer, you'll get a popup "this update does not apply to this computer".
Likewise if you try and install 64 bit on a 32 bit computer, you'll get the same warning.

I have to download both versions because our desktops are 32 bit while our netbooks are 64 bit. I archive all the updates on a USB stick just in case I restore an image and need to reinstall any updates. From time to time I have clicked the wrong 32/64 bit version and seen the popup.
