How to install windows server 2008 R2 to a windows Vista computer so
    that it will dual boot?

  2. To dual boot, you need to have at least two disk partitions, either on the
same physical disk or on separate disks.

If you have only one disk and it has only one partition, you may be able to
create a second partition using Disk Management to first "shrink" the
existing partition and then creating a second partition.

To install and use Server 2008 R2, you will need at least 10 GB, but to be
useful, you should have a partition of at least 30 GB.

Once you have the second partition, boot from the Server 2008 R2 DVD.
During setup you will get a panel for selecting which partition you want to
install in. Select the partition you've created for Server 2008 R2.

When the installation is completed, you'll be able to select either Server
2008 R2 or Vista from the boot menu that is presented after the POST
    processing is finished.

It's perfectly useless to know the right answer to the wrong question.
