Windows Server 2008 Freezing like it's 1998

    Hello,

I just upgraded my Windows Server 2008 w/ Hyper-V Role to a new machine, and
it's freezing during the night. When I try to access it in the morning I
have to reboot it every time. The equipment is all brand new: ASUS P5Q-E,
    16GB ram, and 2 300GB Velociraptors RAID1.

I've upgraded the Motherboard BIOS to the latest version, 2001. I've
installed Windows Server 2008 SP2 RC. Still no luck.

Does anyone have any idea what sort of diagnostics I can run on this bad boy
to see why it's freezing like old skool days?

    Thanks!
    Michael

Why don't you turn on your air-conditioner a little bit at night so it is
warm enough... LOL. just kidding. But you can check what is going on there
at night by checking scheduled tasks and system services which will happen
at nights. Check the logs to see what is running while the stop happens. Pay
attention to things like the temperature of the CPU. Maybe you need more
    fans for it.

Nothing, of course. Events just stop firing at a given time. I should
mention that I'm using 64-bit. I'm considering installing x86 and see how
    that goes.

Have you checked that all hardware is supported? Sounds like some is rather
    old.

How do I do that? :p All the hardware is brand new, actually... within the
    past 6 months, at least.

Ok, maybe a typo then. You mentioned a 2001 bios version. You can look here
and also the hardware manufacturer's web site. Hard lockups are usually
    hardware and or driver related.
