A family member decided to download "Windows Protection Suite" to my laptop.
Every few minutes I get a pop up telling me I have dozens of infections of
various sorts and tryin to get me to sign up to get them removed. I've
tried removing the program through various means but I can get everything
off except a file "2d59f04"...."Access denied". Real novice at this stuff.
    appreciate any help.

Other visurs protection programs I have show no "infections"

    thanks

Your "helpful" family member installed a rogue security program. It is
called "rogue" because it pretends to be A Good Guy but is really Evil. Do
    not pay them!

Look for removal steps here Bleeping Computer removal how-to's -

or here - Malwarebytes malware removal guides -

Malwarebytes' Anti-malware (MBAM) or SuperAntiSpyware will often do the job.
Both have free versions and you do not need to purchase these programs.

These may work for you and all may be well. However, in many cases the
computer will also be infected with Zlob and/or Vundo trojans and protected
by a rootkit. These machines are extremely difficult to clean.

If your machine is one of these cases, either get guided help at one of the
specialty forums below OR back up your data and do a clean install of
Windows. It is your choice. If you are unsure how to back up your data or
how to do a clean install, you can take your machine to a local computer
professional. I don't recommend using BigComputerStore/GeekSquad types of
    places.

PLEASE DO NOT POST LOGS IN THE MS NEWSGROUPS.

    Hello Tom:

Several problems exist with your post.

    1) Windows Protection Suite is a Trojan-Rogue installer and can ot/
be considered an anti-virus application in any stretch of the imagination!

    2) The URL above will try to steal your browser and the site itself
has been reported to contain applications with poor reputations.

At this point, Malke's advice will likely solve the OP's trouble.

    Respectfully,

    Hello,
I have sympathy to your prob, and only write to assist.

Malke has offered you many many many forums to post HJT logs to, etc,
but trust me, you will spend months just trying to register to one of
these let alone actually posting a 'log';; and even then, your 'log'
may not be looked at for ages.
(it is also one of Malkes 'one click standard sig's'.... many ppl in
n/gs use them as it saves typing over and over and over again.)

If you wish this path, then take up a hobby like growing and trimming a
beard while you wait....... I know, I have just been down the same
path whereby all you get from ppl here is "DO NOT POST YOUR LOGS HERE".
(its their way of being politicians, and passing-the-buck)
(dont take offence all you ppl that post all the 'forums' that ppl
should visit to post logs to,, I KNOW now how conjested n/g's are with
other peoples problems..... sort of makes me laugh in a way,
because as with all the floods and wars and earthquakes and etc, and the
internet too, it was all foretold, makes me wonder now if I am a
schmuck for not listening.... one things for sure though, Internet and
Computing problems wont go away, and as each person in n/g's gets older
and more bored, he will also go away and disappear from an n/g,, I've
already seen it happen many times,, and help will fade.

(NAY malke, and nay to other treasured assistants here, this is not a
dig,;; but the proverbial 'post your log to a forum' is just ridiculous
nowadays, and the 'sign-up' / registration / and the / do you meet our
    critera is just outrageous.)

All people in forums are simply current people who exist on this planet,
they too will die like we all will and like all before us have.
What is really Needed is, a NewsGroup that will have people in it that
WILL look at HJT'S.... because the forums are clogged, and the people
there only volunteers, and they too have lives. A forum is not
something that can be relied on anymore. (anyone got a wife?)
Hmmm, even that sounds stupid because Forums were probably set up to
ease the burden placed on n/g's, especially those inundated with ppl who
have the Utility called HJT. (maybe we should all throw away our HJT
program/utility, then we wont have the need for a 'forum' for it?! yes?

I hope someone here can at least see the 'logic' in what i am trying to
say. if not, then call me a fool.

  10. A Solution

    Hello again....

Only 'solution' (failing doing away with computers altogether) is to let
the people at HJT do the anylizing,,,,,
Let the writers of the program start making an effort to looking at
    peoples problems.

Just a thought,,,,, if any people here have a better idea, then type
    and let home users know.

It is easier to search groups for information about certain strings when
the results aren't polluted with HJT logs that offer none of the desired
information. Keeping log submissions and analyses on web based fora is
    the *right* thing to do.

....although with all the web based fora glomming usenet posts and
allowing usenet ignorant posters post here, it all gets polluted anyway.
    <sigh>
