Windows Explorer error??

    Hi all I hope someone can help me out here.
    I have windows xp pro.

    After switching on the computer everything starts up okay
    but after a minute or so the following error message
    appears:
    Windows Explorer has encoutered a problem and needs to
    close. We are sorry for the inconvenience.
    With the following Error Signature:
    AppName: explorer.exe AppVer: 6.0.2800.1221 ModName:
    Unknown
    ModVer: 0.0.0.0 Offset: 00000000

    After closing the error message the Task Bar and
    shortcuts vanish for a few seconds but when it comes back, the same message pops up again. I have run avarst (sp) and other spyware and trojan removers, to no avail. Can anyone please help me?

    Wellll...... Can you posts a screen shot of running processes in the task manager ?? Or a list of running processes in SYSTEM INFORMATION sub menu SOFTWARE ENVIRONMENT>RUNNING TASKS.
