    Hello,

Sometimes my computer won't start in the morning after having been asleep. I have to try to get it to start by turning it off at the tower, then restarting, sometimes several times. My hard drive has been making different strange noises for quite some time. So, I thought it might be advisable to get a new computer. Went to Staples just to look and the tech there told me he liked the Lenovo better than HP or Dell. I have not heard of Lenovo. This is the one I looked at, then check ed on Amazon:

Does anyone have an opinion as to whether or not this would be a good choice?
    Thanks.

I can't comment on that particular machine. Generally speaking, I prefer Lenovo.

Lenovo was at one time the PC division of IBM until they exited the PC world. They, historically, catered to the business community and have a good reputation. You might want to look in the Lenovo Outlet here: http://outlet.lenovo.com for more choices and information. I cannot recommend Windows 8 nor a Touch screen for a desk top. Touch screens are fine for a notebook but seem awkward for everyday use with a desktop. This particular machine gets mixed reviews depending on which reviewer you choose to believe. If you Google the model number you will see several reviews from fair to good.

Also to add, it seems a shame to just dump what may otherwise be a decent desktop. If you wish to rescue it post about it in the hard drive section and we can talk you through replacing the hard drive if you would like, maybe also rescue the data on the hard drive if possible as well.

Thank you Dragnet, Bill, and Nev.
I am glad for your input. I did replace the hard drive on this computer several years ago. Don't know quite how I did it, but I did!!
Maybe that is the way I should go. Need to replace husbands XP computer as well, so need to take some time to solve both problems.
Is an Intel Pentium Dual Core obsolete? Someone said it is.
