No all that does is just discharge the electrical out of the system. Which is not a bad thing to do every so often. You should also be able to run the laptop with out the battery installed just off the power.

Windows Update especially for Windows 7 has been exceptionally slow for the last few months. I have personally had it take up to 24 hours just to offer selected
updates and then another 24 hours to download and install them. I have also seen a lot of errors where starts pout being 36 updates but then 14 are not for that pc etc...
I can't help but wonder if Microsoft isn't doing this deliberately to annoy Windows 7 users and by doing so help move them to Windows 10. It could also be the download site is running exceptionally slow with all the Windows 10 updates they are trying to force up everyone's butts.

I think you are correct. I let the computer run on windows update most of the day. It finally downloaded and installed the updates just about 15 minutes ago. Thanks for all the help from all of you on this great forum.

I figured that would do it. I loathe doing Windows 7 reinstalls for this reason as the update process can take up to 2 days to complete
and they have to know this! The other thing I do when doing the updates is turn PM to "always on" as that can prevent the procedure also.
