Hi, and welcome to the forums. :)

I may get some disagreement here but if you have been running without any anti virus installed I wouldn't bother wasting a lot of time cleaning what is probably a very infected machine.

I would format the drive again and re-install Windows. After the install make sure to install drivers for the system such as chipset, video, audio drivers along with any for other devices. If you do not have a driver disk for the system you should be able to get such drivers from the system manufacturer's site. If it is a home built system you may have to go to the manufacturer site for each device. You should have these drivers on a flash drive or disk before doing the format and re-install.

Now the important part. If you again go with no anti virus all the above is a waste of time as the system will just end up borked again. While there are other options such as Avast and AVG I would suggest Microsoft's Security Essentials for anti virus. It does a decent job and is free.

I would also install MalwareBytes Anti Malware (MBAM). While there IS a free version I would recommend buying the full version. At least get the free. The free version is a very good on demand scanner but does not protect in real time.
