I typed everything into command prompt as listed above and now I have a yellow triangle with a "!" in the bottom right corner near the clock.
My wireless card is enabled, I checked that yesterday.

OK well that is actually an improvement over what you had. When you left click now do any networks show up? Assuming that they do not (and keeping in mind that allheart's knowledge is well beyond mine) you may be able to identify and correct the problem if you right click on the triangle and select troubleshoot if that is available. Let us know what it says if you are able to access it.

When I right click the triangle and do the trouble shoot, it scans the laptop then says plug in the Ethernet cable cord. I have done that and still have no network connections.

While we are getting closer to resolving this issue (and it may be in the hardware) it is important for you to follow the final instructions given you by allheart in post number 20

I typed that into command prompt and did all the steps instructed by all heart. Still no luck.

Will you please redo it and post the results as she asked. That will determine what the next step may be.

It may be helpful if you explain a few things while still following allheart's instructions. Where is the computer you are using now and what computer did you use when you joined? Are you using a phone or tablet to post here? Is the original computer that you used to join in the same location as the router (for example are they both in your home?)

It's good you have things sorted out but it does make one wonder about a "computer tech" who is capable of switching you over to a new operating system but fails to install basic drivers. Anyway, we are glad to have you with us!

Just a thought: is there a switch on the laptop to turn the wireless On / Off?
