It's not the drive that enables/disables TRIM, it's the OS. My experience with installing SSD's on W7 machines is that W7 recognizes when a drive is an SSD and enables TRIM automatically. I do check to make sure. In all the installs I've done (although limited) W7 has enabled TRIM.

As long as it's not set in a raid array, and setup in AHCI mode it should be good. Most builders have this by default because they set optimized when first entering the bios, which in most cases (not all) will enable AHCI and the correct mode for Trim.

In the update list you need to find KB3035583 highlite and hide it as this is the Windows 10 nag screen that appears in your Task Bar near the clock.
Down near the bottom in your list of updates.

Yup most will be ok, only the rare instances of raid, or some mobos that actually do not enable AHCI even when setting optimized. There are still a few mobos that do this mostly Gigabyte even the Z 97 series on a few boards and there are a few MSI as well. Backwards from that there were even more but for the most part most boards are ok. In the rare instance a mainboards BIOS does not enable AHCI even when setting optimized and it defaults to IDE, then trim will not be set. That one is a do-0ver.

@IceMan37 I admit that I'm not intimately familiar with the nuances of AHCI. My understanding is that TRIM is controlled by settings in the OS. Can you expound on how AHCI comes into play? I don't understand how AHCI interacts with the OS to set the TRIM setting.

I don't agree with that article when it says to disable System Restore. With that, I don't trust anything else in that page.
