    How old is the Drive?

what burning software are you using?

Are you trying to burn more data than the disk can hold?

Have you gone to the Drives website to get testing software?

    What error messages?

If you open "Computer" do you see the dvd drive? How does it read? Dvd-rw? Dvd-Rom?
Right click on the dvd-drive and choose "properties" there should be 5 tabs on the next screen is the last one "Recording" and if you open it does it show your drive there?

My Burner is a DL DVD Burner and I did try just to Burn say one Folder to it that is only 2 MB.
And it was showing up in Computer and Device Manager but I un installed it and re booted and it never put it back.

I try to put Blank DVDs and Blank CDs in and windows screen opens and asks me to open Folder.

I do this and it say Drag and Drop files in and I do this as well.

Then I Clickj Burn To Disc.

Then it asks me how to Burn.

It has As Flas Drive and the next option is To Use In Most PCs And DVD Players.

    I click the Second option.
And it starts to Burn and the Graph moves a little bit across the screen then the whole window closess and the Drive Spinss very very fast and never stops.

I even leave it and come back and it is still going.

I have to Reboot to get it to stop and Eject.

Do you know if the Drive require DVD + or DVD - disk to burn to?

What is the make and model of the Drive?

When was the last time the drives lens was cleaned?

    http://www.amazon.com/Maxell-DVD-Lens-Cleaner-190059/dp/B00000JPPI

Basically you get this screen nothing about:
    Write to Disk
    Create Disk

    Example Screen

    Untitled.png

If yes then your drive is going or you are using the improper disk. Form what you are describing would say the drive is going out.

    Then win7 just stopt.

My Drive came with my Dell and I get not Masage on screen win7 just stops Burning and the Drive spins very fast and never stops.

I thought if I go into Device Manager and right click it and un install it and reboot and let win7 re install it will fix.

    No go.

And I did a None Format with winb7 and no go.

Am I un installing DVD Driver right?

Sounds like you need a new drive as they are not expensive and seldom last very long. The drive should have shown back up so what you did is only another indication the drive is bad.

From this information you can try re seating the cables (if desktop) or re seat the Drive (if laptop).

If that does not fix the issue the drive is BAD need to REPLACED.

I would for sure buy a couple of new quality DVD's and tried them before I turfed anything.
Reseating the cables is a good idea, Rustys.
If a Desk top try a different port on the motherboard.

I have a Dell Desktop and I will try another Drive.

But I did try to go into REGEDIT and under
    H Key Local Machine
    System
    Current Controle Set
    Controle
    Class

    Look in the list for
    4d36e965

Highlight it and on right hand side Delete Upper and Lower Filters.

But I see no Upper or Lower Filters?

I do not remember I have a lot of them that I only used maybe 2 times.

But I keep them for things like this.

Do you have any thing I can try next?

Not really....as it's definitely a hardware issue with the player itself. If you have that many....keep trying till you find one that will work.

Have you tried changing out or looking at your data/power cables?
