A few weeks ago, on my way to work (I start at 00:30) I had a close encounter with a couple of wild boars. Thanks to lots of ice on the ground and heavy snow I managed to skid to the left and avoid more damage than there is.
Under Swedish law you must phone the police if you have an accident with an animal and if it isnt dead they will send out a hunter to see if it needs to be shot or not. Anyway I did that the next morning after work, phoned the insurance company and then then insurance repair garage to arrange for my car to be repaired. the insurance company was very helpful and told me that as I had an accident with an animal, I would only have to pay a third of the excess and that they would pay 75% of the cost of a hire car while mine was being fixed.
All roses I thought and the next time I hit a drunk driver, wandering police officer or something, I will tell the insurance company it was a rhineocerous.
Anyway the car is or I should say was only 3 years old and the repair gargage (goverment owned, I might add) decided as the front was pushed back a centimeter or so, it would cost too much to repair. The insurance company informed me of this drug induced decision and offered to pay me a third of the value of the car!!!! I dont get where justice kicks in, years of paying insurance with no claims and when you have an accident because of a wild pig not having any road sense and you are penalised with a megra offering of a third of the retail price of the car.
Is there any fairness left in the world today, please tell me...................

The problem is with your laws over there. In America (clearly a far more enlightened place ) all wild animals are required to get insurance that covers both liability and collision before entering any public thoroughfare.

Having said that - I'm sure you'd agree that a disproportionate number of accidents are caused by boars bores. :snckr:

Which brings me to another point ..... we all know what an accident is. What do you call such an event that is intentional? Must be a noun that fits the occasion.

Oh ... and sorry for the rotten luck, Alan.

A bit of real bad luck there Alan, but such is the way with insurance companies the world over, they take your money and refuse to give any of it back even when you have a good case. Legalised extortion I call it, especially considering you have to have insurance by law.
Think I might just start an insurance company and get rich quick.
