    Back in the Web 1.0 days, I developed a quick and easy metric for determining whether a website was actually useful or not: If it was organized around the tasks and queries a user would perform, it was useful. If it was structured to obviously mirror the company's internal organization, then it was obvious the website wasn't user-focused, and any web surfer should move on to a place that actually thought about them.
