I know that this question has probably been asked a million times, but I am just wondering what you all currently like or would suggest?

I have been using Avast (paid version) for a couple of years, and was happy with it. Then, just recently Avast did an upgrade which resulted in a conflict with the company that I work for online (who also did an upgrade of their program). Anyways, Avast decided that this was a threat, and I was unable to get Avast to make an exception, even though following the directions to do that. My subscription to Avast was up for renewal shortly anyways, so just to make things more simple for myself, and to be able to keep working..... I uninstalled Avast and installed Microsoft Security Essentials (which I have on a laptop with no problems).

So, all is working well really, but I am just wondering if it would be best to renew with Avast, or is there another antivirus that I should be thinking of trying. I am willing to pay, so it does not have to be free.

What do you like or suggest...?
    (I also have Malwarebytes Pro)

    Hi redwing.
I use and recommend Eset NOD32 Antivirus. Does a good job and not too many false positives.
    Reasonably priced also.

I agree with that, Eset NOD32 has an excellent reputation and has done so for a long time, antivirus comparative tests show it up in the top end as well.

Another vote for Nod32 as I have used and recommended it for about 15 years. One thing I might suggest different though is if you are not using Malwarebytes Pro with it then I would instead suggest Emsisoft which is both Antivirus and AntiMalware, the only one that is that I have ever seen work properly.
Even Microsoft does not recommend MSE as sole protection against Malware.

It's not often that we all agree on something as controversial as antivirus protection but I also use Nod32 and Malwarebytes Pro. Perhaps we need Pete and Gene's input here, as well.

I have 3 systems running Nod32 and 2 running Emsisoft Antimalware.
So it seems i'm in agreement with everyone here.

Well, I am having trouble trying to get the license for the free trial. The link that I am to use ends up with an Error 404 notice. I sent an email, but got back an auto reply with more links that really don't help unless I have the license key. I did not want to uninstall what I do have before knowing that I can install their free trial, so maybe that is what is wrong. I checked their site, but did not find mention of an Error 404 yet. Hmm...

    Hi redwing.
I tested Starbuck's link and downloaded a trial version for another computer I have.
I didn't get an error and all went smoothly. I downloaded the live installer and followed the prompts.
There were no numbers needed. Take note at what point you are having probs, exactly.

Try again and see how you go.

Beware of antivirus comparative tests and such reviews sites. They are fake. They are ranking VIPRE Antivirus at # 1. I never heard about it.

Where one should look for honest reviews? It depends on product or service you are looking for. Forums are good place to get honest reviews. Amazon is also a good place. http://www.t-mobile.com/cell-phones/sony-xperia-z3.html for unbiased mobile phone reviews.

One of my tech buddies who's been in the business for a long time uses only Vipre.

I tested VIPRE a couple of years ago but I wasn't impressed.

There is no denying, all tech's have their favorites.

Viper can be a good anti virus. My point mainly was pcantivirusreviews.com should not be trusted.

PC Antivirus Reviews rank Norton as top five.

Something is definitely wrong with that picture. :bnghd:

I will not recommend any software I haven't thoroughly tested myself.
I have seen good reviews about absolutely crap software.
Who is paying who behind the scenes I often wonder.

Thanks for the heads up on reviews. I have often wondered about some of those......which is why I came here!

So far, I am liking ESET.
