I had PhotoRite FX that I'd purchased - and it worked perfectly but, of course, when my Mother Board went poof, all my programs did as well.

Had the 'zipped' program on a thumb drive ... but still can't use it because ...

This particular company requires that the owner send a request, along with the serial number, asking that the "serial number be enabled once again". Did that - but still no reply.

Realize that I'm likely on 'thin ice' here asking this ...but I did pay for it (have receipt and product serial number, etc) ... is there any way to over-ride their built in thingie that only permits one loading session without getting the serial number enabled once again?

Afraid not, Unless you know someone who has a degree in computer programming, also if the company get bought out or stops trading you may find that they won't or you won't be able to use the software

It looks like they are based in Hong Kong so a telephone call would probably not be a good idea. Just in case you don't have them, there are 2 email addresses on this page. http://www.zensis.com/photorite_fx/support.aspx#fx_top One general and one for support. You may want to mention that you are a staff member on one forum and a member of others and you would not like to have to post on your experience. Ooooooooh that'll scare em. :) But you can tell them that at least one forum is recommending avoiding their product unless and until they resolve this issue.

THE only companies that are capable of 'tying' a piece of software to ONE PC are those that are online running programs such as Steam as they use servers to see who is legit and who is not.
We will ignore M$ on this occasion as they have far too much money and have the annoying ability to do the above to a MOBO, although you never have any problems when you call them and tell them the MOBO blew up and you need a new key
Gotta love CS people who dont give a damn what anyone is doing

I doubt that the software you are using is, in theory you should be able to download a trial version of their software and then use your legit key turning it into a full version :)

I was afraid of that, Match - and no degree in computer programming and not knowing anyone that does have one - well, drat! And I'd thought as much too, Dalo - but they have it 'locked' ... each registration number can only be used once and when one types it in, a wee window saying "this registration number is already in use" arrives. Meanies.

But that said, I love your idea BeeCeeBee - I'll write them again (and thanks for the alternative email address!) and do just that - what a brilliant idea!! No Company would like the thought of a disgruntled purchaser moaning about them in computer forums - yup, a brilliant idea and thank you!!

Whaooo!!! It worked! Same email address I used before but the gentle reminder that I (and others) who use the program belong to computer sites, as well - maybe it was my mentioned our 'Computer Help Forums' that did it but poof, they answered and now I'll be able to use my program again! Thank you, thank you!!

Thats not possible unless its an online program (which it would need to access your internet  and you give it permissions)

Or they register it online when you originally installed it (best not to do this in future  )
you should always have the option 'register offline' or something along those lines ;)

Because I purchased it, they give a printable receipt then ... and mail the registration number along with a more formal receipt. And it's that registration number that one must use to activate the program when using it for the first time.

What they've done is used a 'built-in' shield to ensure the registration number can only be used once before it needs activating (by them) once again ... so each time I've had to re-load it, one must send them an email and request activation of the number.

But I laughed out loud in delight reading about Mokey - she is so adorable they'd want to scoop her up and keep her!

    The mind boggles

Stick to OEM kit if you can Mara, as for their 'procedure' it would put me right off paying for a piece of kit like that with so many restrictions in place.
Like you have said imagine how long you could have been waiting for a reply if Beeceebee hadnt found an alternative email address
