Australia always appealed to me as a good place to live. How's the crime?

Great place to live and raise a family, Dragnet.
Weather is great however just now it's the hottest part of Summer here.
In the big cities crime is a worry as usual.
I live on the fringes of Sydney and relatively crime free. :smile2:

Well, it is currently 27 degrees F right now at 5:30 am christmas eve morning.  It is overcast and a wee bit windy and there is 2 inches of snow on the ground.  It was colder yesterday, but sunny all day.  Typical early winter weather for us as we have cold humid winters here. I went down to the Detroit river yesterday and it was a bright pleasant day.  Went for a nice mountain bike ride. :jump:

Currently at 4-30PM or 1630 hours it is a very unseasonable 7 degrees centigrade, (44.6F) outside here in this part of the UK. It is all down to a large warm front that has swept in from the west, bringing with it rain, which if you have seen the UK news has resulted in heavy flooding in a lot of places.
Just a continuopus fine rain here at the moment that is of the type that wets you through to the bone if out in it for long. Not a pleasant place to be isn't dear old England at the moment.

It is boxing day here and at 6:55am it is currently 30 degrees F or -2 degrees C and it is windy and overcast.  They are prediciting 5 inches of snow today, by mid afternoon.  This city is not equipped to handle that amount of snow in a short period of time and I hope we don't get that much.  Plus, I don't want to do any shoveling. :bnghd:

Been there, done that Doughie, including the front sidewalk.  It's nice to look at and I am glad we got a white xmas, but, I hate shovelling it and it can go away any time now.

PS: I cheated a bit, as I put my daughter Mick to work.  She did more than half of it as shovelling snow is hard on an old fart like me. :jump:

No way in hell I would endure those freezing temps, redwing .
Mara used to live in Yellowknife and she said the temps were often -40C.

DSTM you mentioned Mara mentioning Yellowknife and -40 c.  I did live in a place with similar temps to that for a few years, but you know the cold in the -30s to -40s did not feel as cold to the bone as places that have a damper climate and much milder-looking temps.  Try it with outdoor plumbing!  :angl:    It does get hard on the heating bill though.    Too bad we could not do a trade of some temperatures sometimes.

Still hanging in here with a pleasant -10 c.  A bit of a warmer western  wind starting up.

I couldn't handle those temps, redwing.
The coldest I have endured was in Austria when it was between-14C and -22C for 2 weeks a few years ago.
Couldn't get out of there quick enough.
The locals were playing some game on the ice frozen lake.
Sliding these things that look like ten pins.
