It is dull and over-cast here on the Wirral UK - I haven't ventured out yet

South Carolina this morning is sunny and a cold 35F, signs of an early winter season.

Yes 6[sup]o[/sup]C and raining, started raining about 4pm yesterday, all I'll say is I feel sorry for those under water, I was thinking of digging the garden over so the frost can kill the weeds at this rate It will be more of a stir the mud than dig.

We have had floods across the country in the last few days. Luckily sunny Wirral has missed them.
This poor guy is going to have a little bit of damp to sort out after this .......

Yes especially this time of year, it will take months to dry them out, and the UK insurance companies are starting to refuse to insure against flood damage or charging extortionate premiums, which affects the property value, and I can't say it's their fault for buying a house next to a river, when the houses were built and sold their wasn't a problem in a lot of cases, but subsequent river management projects without thought of consequences down stream have caused the problems, Its one thing for a council to build river banks up to stop land being flooded up stream so it can be used for housing estates that have drains into the river, but this causes problems down stream.

This was a small creek in Toowoomba Queensland during Floods in 2011.
Goes from a small creek to a raging torrent in minutes.
You pay high insurance premiums if your in a flood zone
A flood zone is Flooding once every 10 yrs.

    Bought a new Thermometer yesterday.
The temp in the shade in my Garden has just reached 40C at 4pm
It is a muggy heat which makes it more uncomfortable.
Very easy to get heat stress or even heat stroke if one is not careful.

Those sites are never accurate, Match and really a waste of time.
I have my old Thermometer and the new one and they both read the same in the shade.
    At 8.30pm here now it's still 31C
    I use this one.Sometimes close.
    At 8pm it says it's 30.9C here.

Even this site I have seen to be up to 5C in error.

Now that is interesting, as I use them because if I were to be brave enough to go outside to my car and put the Key in the ignition the cars thermometer would agree with them, and obviously I'd have the information about the wind and rain/sun conditions :D

During the summer when I'm more likely to pop down to the beach for the day I also find them accurate, so are their accuracy country dependant?

but of course you can't beat things like this

    and this

    http://www.bbc.co.uk/england/webcams/index.shtml

:shh: And my friends ask how come when I go somewhere for a day out why it's always good weather

A bit odd here over the last twenty four hours. Freezing at some degrees below early or around this time yesterday, then clouded over, warmed up and rained all night with outside tewmperatures around four or five or perhaps more. I was in bed so not for going to check any thermometers.
Then this morning, brightened up clear sky and back to around freezing point for most of the day. Now dark and cloud cover with a corresponding temperature rise, thermometer outside now showing 2C.

The so-called (usually right) sunny Canary Islands has been hit badly this past fortnight though not as badly hit as the UK. Lots and lots of rain and quite strong, chilly wind factor. Thermometers showing 20C indoors and 17C outdoors - that's cold to us residents. Brrrrrrr! Local weather station all up the pole showing sun for 5 days, but when you look next day (during the rain) it will say rain for one day then sun later. Why does 'the rainy day' keep popping up for that day's weather, no matter when I check???

that to me is perfect, a lot nicer than the current -4C, I think the worst thing about this time of year apart from the sub zero temperatures is the frost stat kicks in and keeps the heating on all night to prevent pipes freezing. but it also dries the air in the house. but then I don't miss the days of having to scrape the frost from the inside of the windows or having to boil water with salt to defrost pipes and drains before you can have a wash. swings and roundabouts.

    Thunderstorms are building up.
So glad the British chose Australia as a destination for their Petty thieves.
Bright sunshine blue skies and beautiful beaches.
Now for a cold Beer.
