I have a part of the Trans-Siberian Orchestra's "Ghosts Of Christmas Eve" DVD I want to rip and save. What is the best FREE software/Program to use for this. I have NERO 9. Are there any better (easier) programs?

Hi Sarge. Nero does a good job of burning CD/DVD's.
I have Nero however I find IMGBURN my favourite.

There is a short learning curve with any burning software.
Nero 9 has a rip and burn feature built in.
What's Nero doing you don't like?

It's not that I don't like NERO...just that it's been a bit since I used it to RIP and save a part of a DVD using it. Guess I'm gonna have to "play" with NERO again and remind myself how to use it. I usually use DVDfab to copy full DVD's. Don't know if DVDfab has the option to RIP. Gonna check.

Here is a good list where you may find what you want. I use AShampoo and find their burning software to be so simple one does not have to think - everything is done for you and end result is great. AShampoo support service is good.

AShampoo Burning Studio 11 has been offered to me for $19.99 as an upgrade to Studio 10. regular price is $49.95.

Ashampoo Burning Studio 11 - the latest highlights: - Completely new Compact Mode for burning data discs quickly and easily. - Multi-core support for better encoding performance and quicker burning results. - New file dialog with easy access to different resources and an integrated preview. - Direct access to data from cloud services and social networks, e.g. Facebook, Flickr, Picasa or Dropbox. - Easily burn data from external devices, e.g. video from a smartphone. - Favorites folder for quick access to frequently used folders. - Disc image browser for browsing, displaying and extracting data from ISO files.

Well you did ask for freeware, here is one I used called DVD Movie backup, it is free and will rip any DVD to your hard drive as an ISO file (providing there is room ha ha.) What you do with that copy afterwards is up to you, with other converting software you can then convert the format from DVD to say AVI or similar, or with burning software burn a new disk, here is where to download it.
