What Are Windows Updates For

    I just had to write this as I saw it on another forum and a so called tech user stated this and was seconded by an Admin:
    "Whether or not your computer gets infected, has nothing to do with Windows updates."
    Windows 101 teaches you that "Windows Updates are your friend, they are 98% security patches to make the OS safe" I just wanted to make sure our users have a better understanding of what Windows Updates are and why we have to do them!

    Users need those security patches. They are there for a very good reason.

    I have no idea why anyone would state otherwise.

    Security is the primary function of Windows updates. Something like that is sad even though the user started out trying to explain that Windows XP won't implode on April 8 but to say that Windows Updates have nothing to do with infections, wow that is stupid. You know when I was a photographer, every other person I met said they were one also. Maybe that mantle has now been taken over by techs!
