Is a-squared still around? Too lazy to google it. I used years ago and like it. Has anyone use it if it's still around.

I thought I had heard of everything lol. That is actually a funny name for a security product. :) I believe the very first A/V I used was McAfee because it was pre-loaded on the HP I bought (HP 8533Z with a Celeron 500).

My first anti-virus was Norton and got rid of that quick. Got something that screwed my internet and stupid Norton wanted me to download a removal tool for it. Well that was kinda hard when I couldn't get on the internet and it was my only computer way back then.

Let me disagree with Ray a bit though, I can't agree that no matter what an inexperienced user uses they will get infected. There is a huge difference between the better paid products and
free free free. One of the things I like the best about Emsisoft is I have never seen an upgrade or an infected user. Most of the Mbam Pro infected users came from users who failed to do the frequent program updates they require and show very poorly to users. Sophos or Norman users never get infected either.

Well if you think a paid subscription will stop every type of infection you are sadly mistaken I'm afraid. I have serviced countless computers with paid subscriptions and they still get infected. I personally see little difference between paid and free in all honesty when it comes to catching infections. Sure the paid ones have more features which also uses more resources.

No Ray sorry I didn't mean that at all, I just meant that certain programs are way better at protecting users than others.
I was actually stunned that my 100 licenses for Emsisoft escaped infection for over a year as most of those are clueless users,
and I really mean that. My past experiences would have had 50% of the same users on Malwarebytes Pro and MSE would
have and were infected again within 6 months. With Nod32 and Mbam Pro way less but some. This is the first time in the 15 years I have been doing this that was ever true
and you know me I am not saying that because I sell Emsisoft at all. I was actually surprised to realize this.

Until you find a program that can get these kinds of results I expect you and others to be suspicious, I would have been to. This is news man, and
I had no idea this would work so well, I just knew there had to be a better way than what I was doing for protection.

I firmly believe that the free ones are more than adequate for home users. Now business computers should always have paid protection as they have allot more to lose.
