Just cast my eye down through my XP Home Add/Remove programs list and
spotted "WEBex" ...which I can't remember installing !
It seems to be something to do with Cisco ?
A couple of weeks ago I downloaded latest firmware for a Linksys WRT54GC
router and distantly remember having to go through some hoops to download
firmware, and suspect that it could have installed at that time but, ..can't
    remember now !

....anyone know anything about WEBex ..with a little green planet icon, in
    Add/Remove Programs, possibly from ?
....which I added to Restricted sites zone | quit IE7 | and cleared out TIF
and Cookies etc and it that site still loaded in IE7 ! ...just added above
URL to hosts and that stopped it !

    any tips gladly appreciated

    TIA

    regards, Richard

Many thanks, ...just did a rummage for "RAT" nasty-ware and I seem to be
    un-infected !

WebEx is an online meeting service that we use quite often at my work.
Another vendor is "Go To Meeting".

The WebEx you're seeing may be the client used to participate in these
online meetings. If you have no use for it just remove it. It's a free
download from the WebEx website so you could always get it again.

    Many thanks,

I must admit to being lazy, i.e. posting here first, then Googling on
"WEBex" to find there is a whole bunch of malware called "WEB Ex" centering
    around a trojan call "RAT,"
....after which it only took me a minutes to check that "RAT" wasn't "in
    there" !!

I still suspect that it was "going through hoops" to download Linksys router
firmware, ...was how it got installed, ...obviously I selected, or chose, or
ticked, or failed to untick, something, at that time !

    regards, Richard

Just what advantage is there in inflicting an application software "trial"
on a customer who is not interested in it, is unlikely to ever have a use
for it, and who will be really p****d off at having to uninstall and clean
up after it ???? ...must be the "mailshot" thing I suppose !!!
