Watch What You Download

Outstanding question mate, I wrongly assumed this is like all the other Freebies that come on these external drives that Immediately format to get rid of them, and I was wrong. As a matter of fact it is not free either like $45 for 3 pc's.
I got so sick and tired of those freebie software programs on external drives that try to download everything including the kitchen sink 2/3 of which you cannot open and has no value as I know this one is on many hard drives. I still do like the idea though of picking exactly what I want to backup and when but this one does make good sense to me.

 

I tend to "keep in touch". There are particular ways to install drivers if you are using certain platforms with different hardware. It's taught me well over 17 years. This is with very high end hardware it's not your Mom n' Pop's PC.

Tony it depends on the drive used for backups. I don't feel drives over 1 tb are stable even now so I will use 500 gb or 1 tb and since I have 550 clients, I need compression to save space. Even on my own systems my built in backup drives are only 500 gb and I have never replaced one so they are quite old. As you know using a drive only for files and data they can virtually last forever different than a drive that boots Windows every day.

 

Actually it isn't Dougie I started this with my problem with a simple download of a browser and no I am not a high spirited gamer but I am also not a mom and pop pc either. The thread has wandered though and it is easy to forget where we started.

Ironically when I said Handy backup worked again. Well that was short lived and it stopped again requiring a new install every time I started . I then contacted Handy Backup and finally got my serial numbers for the newest version and that one worked right for one bootup. For some reason 7.0 version works fine on my Windows 8.1 desktop so I am starting to wonder about this restore also now. I did manage to do the Quicken Updates without losing the ability to use Quicken which I couldn't do before the restore to December. Customer Service at Novosoft felt badly about my problem and gave me a third license which doesn't help as it has been 5 days with no answer to 4 requests for help with the current problem. Karen's Replicator worked perfectly even on the messed up system so I am tempted to put it back and give-up on Handy Backup but it doesn't offer "synch" vs "backup" which I prefer and of course because it is free no compression either. In order to believe this unit is still screwed up going back to a successful December image file, then I have to believe something I once observed on an Acronis restore where I could not explain something installed on an old restore that I didn't own when the image file was made originally and that is too deep for a Sunday morning. Nothing else but Handy Backup is a problem at the moment.
