W2K3 R2 Crashes Weekly

Can someone look at the memory dump file attached and help find the
reason for my Windows 2003 server crash once a week?

Windows x86 debugging tools claim the probable cause is due to this driver:

AwVUsbd.sys -- Virtual USB driver.



If you have this USB adapter installed, either update the driver or
remove it.

Thanks for investigating! I updated the USB driver last month after it
first started going off-line; that didn't seem to fix the problem. Any
other suggestions?

I verified that the driver was updated (usb host controller) and noticed
that it was, however, the USB Key was not updated. I have updated the
remaining drivers and will play the waiting game now to see if the
system crashes on its scheduled crash time early Saturday morning.

I appreciate your response and will let you know if that resolves the
problem.

Remove all of these devices from computer management, remove the .inf
file for it in %windir%\inf (it should have a name like oemXX.inf, where
XX increments to each driver installed not self-contained in Windows),
reinsert the device in a DIFFERENT usb port and reinstall the drivers.

Windows has always mapped a device to a specific port, if you change the
port it's on, it reinitializes it like it never was previously used.


If it still crashes, toss the device. more headache than it's worth.

That fixed it. Didn't get the normal 2:45am server crash.
