I watch a lot of television and movies on my computer. Late at night, I'm both trying to be courteous to my room mates, and trying not to be woken up if i fall asleep by keeping it at a reasonable volume. Problem is, television and movies alike never have a consistent volume. Music, sound effects, and commercials are ALWAYS louder than the normal dialogue. The SVM option in Creative Labs Control Panel makes 0 difference. Can anyone recommend any software that keeps my computers volume at a consistent volume?

I know exactly the problem your talking about, :) slightly different circumstances, as I quite often Watch Films, TV or play games if the wife's got the TV remote :snckr: and after getting annoyed at the regular "Cant you turn that down a bit cries" I invested in a set of head phone's :snckr:

Now I get tapped on the shoulder and asked "Why you ignoring me" you Just can't win :D

But to your original question, I don't know of any software that could or can do this, but I'll be as interested as you to here if anyone has a solution to the problem.

Well indeed a concept yet to be fully explored, I can find a device for your TV, here=

But that is not an answer for your computer.
I will look further but as far as I know, no one has yet devised software that can level the sound out on a computer, though there may well be external devices that can be plugged in between the speaker socket and the speakers or headphones.

If only that was compatible with more than HDMI, and wasn't >$100. I watch TV on my computer because i'm too poor to buy a TV in my room.
