Is there anyone here familiar with VLC player? My problem is that I cannot get it to play 4K video, it just sort of freezes on the first frame. I know I can use other players but I prefer VLC & I'm sure its just some setting I have wrong. I think I have the latest version 2.2.4.
    Thanks.

Thanks Dougie. Interesting link but it basically explains how to down scale to 1080p. The whole point of downloading an ultra HD version of something is to enjoy the enhanced quality, had I wanted it in normal HD I would have downloaded that version. It also suggests other players which I am aware of.
So whilst interesting it doesn't solve my problem unfortunately.

Yes I didn't get much help from those who you would think might know the answer.
In fact that last reply about GPU is something this novice doesn't even understand?

Thanks for your input starbuck. Just to take up your point regarding no benefit in 4k unless you have a 4k monitor........actually 4k does, in my opinion, look better than hd even on a standard pc screen plus it really comes into its own when you zoom in as you don't lose any picture quality, something to do with pixels I assume?
I will post a reminder on that forum as you suggest.
