I am wondering why people post problems about Vista. Vista works for me.

Glad you're having a positive experience. Many others are not so
    fortunate.

    It's hard to gauge really...

You never hear from all the people who have 'positive experiences'
So, naturally, only those with problems are highlighted.

FWIW, My Vista Home Premium (SP2) has worked pretty flawlessly for 18
    months.
    Current reliability index of 9.01.

    You mileage obviously does vary...

    me too!
XP, with its ton of needed tweaks and tired look isn't missed.
my dell xps, vista home premium, looks and performs much better
    than my compaq nc-8430 with xp.(both w/ 7200rpm drives & same core 2
    duo)
boot up & shut down times are way faster.
I have had no problems, blue screens or any of the myriad of trouble I
    had with xp.

Apparently, not everyone who posts in this newsgroup is you. Imagine that.

That's the Spanker again...posting from XP using Outhouse Express.

It's working fine for me too. A few months ago though I posted
something similar to what you said and I got a response that listed a
number of problems with Vista that I have to admit I've experienced. So
I really can't complain about the constant griping around here. Lots of
people just haven't had the positive experience with Vista that they
    expected.

Actually I think there is one major problem with Vista -- when it was
released it wasn't an unqualified improvement over XP. Even its bells
and whistles -- think Dreamscene -- didn't work very well for everybody.
Lots of people who "upgraded" felt suckered because they didn't get
any perceived value for their money and effort.

People post problems because happy people NEVER post about their happiness,
    they're happy in private.

It's the angry & unhappy people who post, why? They hope for solutions from
othe rpeople and also to vent out.
It's the same with any product. People will write about bad IBM?Lenovo
Thinkpads and thos epeople don't care about Thinkpads being some of the
best/most reliable business laptops, with price being excessive though.
People will write about bad Honda, Toyota or my Nissan cars, not caring for
the fact these are best daily drivers.

    Only unhappy people write!

You're a rare exception who decided to share you rhappy texperience.

you're probably a non-busienss user, you might be a home, student, etc user.
People angry qwith Vista are business & techniocal people who dont care
about Multimedia, videos, etc crap but see Vistas's severe defficienices
versus WindowsXP when it comes to serious business, overy large file
processing, networking, search, file manager... nowadays called Windows
Explorer (I HATE THAT NEW NAME), SLOW, loading unnecessary thigns into
memory because it claims to flush out "quickly" when memory is needed!

Crazy hardware requirements which you satisfy yet it's still slow., popups,
warning, UAC, mentoringf and micromanagement over the user rights, instead
of turnintg it all off as an option during isnatllation with a big red
    warning:

WARNING... if you enable such & such... you'll be nagged with repetitive
warnings even when you open your own files to print!"

This is typical of ALL software released by MS. They aren't making
improvements, they are just rearranging interfaces. Tell me what
substantial improvements the average user has gotten from Windows
    since Win2K or Office 95.

I can think of a few related to hardware for the OS side, but it's
really a small pile and all could be easily encompassed by a Service
Pack since Win2K. As for MS Office, they've improved near to nothing.
