I get that from time to time as well gunnner and, in fact, got it more with the old software than I do now. Just reload the page and it almost always clears itself up. For some reason the skin just doesn't load. Don't worry about it.:D

Whoa! I surprised you can get to the site at all. The ping time is terrible. The only thing I can suggest is to try another dns server.

I know some of this is tough for you, Skip, but this should not be happening. I think there may be a minor problem on this end because my ping responce is a bit slower thatn it was before but nothing like what you are seeing. I used to average about 54ms and now it is somtomes closer to 70 but that is mothing.

If it is not to difficult try the same ping test with some of the other places you visit and let us know the outcome. You don't have to post the whole screenshot if you don't want to, just the average will do.

It has to be. I have never seen ping times that high. That he was even able to access the site at all is amazing.

DNS means Domain Name System and a DNS server is the server that you connect to that is used by your ISP. Normally you can designate a different server than that automatically assigned to you.

That doggy picture of that Dougie posted reminded me that you often mention a satellite and that you are in a remote location. I am no expert on satellite internet service but my understanding is that there are 2 different ways that it handles uploads. I expect that there are two modems involved (for all I know they are in one box) one for downloading and another for uploading. In some instances you still have to connect throug a dial-up modem to send a command and then you receive the reply through the satellite.

Do you need to connect a phome line for your internet to work.

If you are having trouble with CHF when you read this please try another site (maybe another forum that you go to) and if that is working well by comparison then do another ping test on it and then on us. It does appear that weather would play a much more serious role with a satellite system but that should not effect only one site.

The problem is almost assuredly at your end and we need to get to the bottom of it. I just did a ping test both on our forum and another that I know you frequent. While both were acceptable the CFF ping was twice as fast as the other. What browser are you using?

Before we do anything drastic go to internet explorer and delete all your temporary internet files. What version of Internet explorer are you using. My tests were done this morning.

    OK first how is firefox?

In Internet exporer 7 select tools and then internet options. In the box that comes up select delete and then select "temporary Internet files". Allow it time to delete them (if you have a lot you will see a moving bar.) When it is finished close the browser and then reopen it and see if that improves the performance. I would also delete cookies. As that may be having an effect too.

HELLO---LERNT more about ping & task manager on Google & the help section in my computer, on my own.
I have run 4 ping tests. 2 with firefox & 2 with IE

    1. ping CHF via FireFox=TTL=112
    2. ping Chf via IE = Timed out 100% lost
    3. ping other site via FireFox =TTL =51
    4. ping other site via IE =TTL = 51

I hope I got the figures rite--(not shure about # 4---might have to go back & check that---this took long enough)--had to go back & forth to do this.
I have screen shots of all if ya want me to post them, I would be happy to do it.

Something does not seem right there, Skip. Please post the results. I am not sure I know what you mean when you say you pinged using a browser. But lets see what you got. After that we are going to clean out the cache on each browser and try again.
