    Hi Darkus.
Yes, we can manual set the bios back to defaults without entering the Bios, but it won't be necessary.
We wont need to with a fresh install.

What I want you to do is take the optical Drive out of your old Computer and install it in this new Computer.
    They are all interchangeable.
We want to do a fresh install with your Disc if it is any good and def not the Flash drive.
Change that over and get back to us.Make sure it is working.

This install disc, is it genuine or a copy. What is the history with the disc.
Have you got legit validation key?
Please answer every question as best you can.
My guess you have installed Windows on top of Windows, and that will have to be wiped.
What is the size of the SSD?

Also I want you to turn the new PC off at the back of the tower, hold the start button in for about 5 seconds to discharge capacitors, take the Bios battery out for a minute
    or so then put back.

Anyone else, please jump in with your ideas.:)

OK - it appears that I've got things working. After resetting my BIOS so that USB worked again, I am trying to install Windows again normally via DVD.

Edit: OK, seems to be the same problem with the USB not being detected (neither 2.0 or 3.0). Do you guys think I should just try and install Windows 10?

Look at page 41 of your manual. It explains how to install Win 7.

No one asked you to reset the Bios. This is not going well because you were asked to do certain things up to a certain stage.
You were asked to change over the optical drive in readiness for the next stage.
With a fresh install you have USB2 working and we go to your motherboard manufacturer for all your drivers including USB 3 drivers.
Who told you to touch the Bios?
This thread is up to 23posts and we have achieved Zip so far.
Seems someone maybe feeding you false advice as to the correct route to take.
You are doing things you are not told and this is making things more difficult.

I used the wrong words before - I meant that I followed your instructions and now BIOS is back to default settings, meaning my USB devices are functional again while in BIOS.

And your trying to install off a USB device instead of the optical drive?
Did you remove and replace the CMOS Battery as instructed?

GimboV suggested looking at page 41 of the manual where it specifically mentions patching the ISO using either the Win7UsbPatcher(v2.0.14) or Win7-USB3.0-Creator-V3. I created a new image, place it on a USB stick and patched it, but it didn't work (still can't use USB devices when Windows boots) using the first program and I'll try it with the other.

I have added a DVD drive, but I have not tried to install from it yet.

Yes, I removed and replaced the CMOS battery as instructed. It reset all BIOS setting to default. Am I not using the correct term?

I'm sorry for rushing - I will try to calm down and follow your instructions to the letter.

As I understand things, you have the BIOS reset. That's good.

Going forward, I'd like to see that you can boot the machine and get into the BIOS settings using your USB keyboard. If you can, then that verifies your USB ports are working. This is essential before proceeding any further.

I understand that you have an optical drive now installed. Using the BIOS setting, set the optical drive as the first boot device.

Now, boot to your Windows install disk and install Windows.

It's pretty straight forward. If you can't install Windows, then you have either a hardware problem with your board or hard drive. If the hardware is not faulty, then I suspect you have a bad install disk.

Give it a shot and get back to us.

Hello, after a very long day I'm back at it.

I have now created an ISO of my Windows DVD, patched it, burned back to DVD, and then used it in a DVD reader connected directly to my MOBO to install windows, but still have the same problem - the USB devices do not work.

It might be a problem with my SSD, but then how did I manage to install it before? As for the DVD being a problem, I borrowed my friends Windows disc just to see if it would install - same problem with the USB devices not working.

    Don't follow.
Both Keyboard and mouse wired and using top black USB2 Ports on back of tower?

These are my Asrock UEFI USB settings as promised.

Under "Advanced" in the BIOS, then under USB Config.

    USB Controller...........................Enabled
    Intel USB3.0 Mode....................Smart Auto
    Legacy USB Support................. Enabled
    Legacy USB3.0 Support.............Enabled
    USB Compatibility Patch...........Disabled
    Third Party USB3.0 Controller...Enabled
    F10 and Save.

I doubt there is anything wrong with your SSD except maybe full.

Sorry again if I'm not being clear - I meant that as you requested, the DVD drive is connected to the MOBO by a SATA cable rather than using the external USB DVD drive.

I've tried both sets of ports and neither seem to work.

I'm afraid my Advanced\USB Configuration Menu only has the following options:

    Legacy USB Support................. Enabled
PS/2 Simulator.......................... Enabled (It was disabled but Enabling doesn't seem to change anything)
XHCI Hand-off......................... Enabled (It was disabled but Enabling doesn't seem to change anything)

The SSD is almost empty since I decided to do a clean install and formatted it to avoid problems.

Naturally I haven't the Computer in front of me to run all the checks I would like to.
I think this is getting to the stage where you need a Technician to have a look for you.

I see... well I guess I'll take a look around and see what shops are around.

Thanks very much to everyone for your time and patience in this matter.

Those were only my thoughts. Other Techies may have different thoughts, than I.
    Your Bios may need updating.

Another Techie here may still be able to pin point the problem for you.
    Don't give up yet.:)

There's an update function in the BIOS - I did that and it appeared to download and install something... didn't make a difference though.

I'll give it another day or two and hope that someone has a spark of genius. If not, I guess I'll have to consider trying Windows 10.

I asked that you install from the Windows install disk. Not an ISO of something we know nothing about. Use the genuine original install disk.

I tried both the original DVD and a patched version. Unfortunately, neither worked.

At exactly what point did the Install DVD stop working?
I asked you in Post 21 if the install disc is genuine with a valid key or a torrent copy. You failed to answer.
    Which is it.?

Question marks means it is a question and we need an answer.

Is the keyboard wired or wireless? Cable or no cable on the keyboard.?

The Install DVD doesn't stop working. Installation continues normally (all USB devices working fine) until after the first reboot when Windows wants to finish installation. At the bottom of the screen is a yellow progress bar that is about two thirds filled. At this point the USB devices no longer work correctly.

I began with an Original, but have also tried to use a copy I hoped had the 3.0 drivers in it - that didn't work either.

I've tried wired and wireless devices, but I've mostly tried wired keyboard and wireless mouse.

Look I think I see the writing on the wall - I really do appreciate all the effort but it seems that unless something major happens, it's time to move on... "He's dead, Jim". Once again, thank you all again.

Let me tell you what's going on here. You haven't got one genuine Install Disc.
That's why you wouldn't and still haven't said is your DVD install disc genuine.
When Windows wants to finish the installation the information that Windows needs from the Disc is wrong. (Typical Torrents)
If the Disc was pristine you wouldn't lose the USB drivers.
Means you are using corrupt Install Discs from word go and basically wasting everyone's time.
Even over Christmas Eve and Christmas Day.
You were hoping for a miracle and it didn't happen.

    I am locking this Thread.
