    You mean microsoft.public.ru.russian.server.

What the hell kind of group is that?

And you didn't have to full-quote the original garbage in your reply.

It was Cyrillic not garbage and yes he did have to quote all that or none of it would be
    in the Russian news group.

My reply looked Russian when writing this post.. Hmmm! There must be a
    reason.

The text looked authentic when pasted into Notepad. Perhaps this is a
    limitation of Outlook Express.

My apologies. No follow up is necessary.

I asked you why you full-quoted the OP in your reply, since it was all
just a lot of garbage cyrillic characters - or, as I see it, like this:

    -----------------
    úÄÒÁ×ÓÔ×ÕÊÔÅ!

    ÷ ÍÏÅÍ ÂÒÁÕÚÅÒÅ ÐÏÑ×ÉÌÁÓØ ÎÁÄÓÔÒÏÊËÁ URLHooker2 Class, ËÏÔÏÒÕÀ Ñ

õÄÁÌÉÔØ ÅÅ ÉÚ "õÐÒÁ×ÌÅÎÉÅ ÎÁÄÓÔÒÏÊËÁÍÉ" ÎÅÐÏÌÕÞÁÅÔÓÑ.
    -----------------

    What I see are characters such as u, A, O, E, N and I with various
    top-accents on them.

    Lipman responded by saying:
    <!--coloro:blue--><span style="color:blue <!--/coloro-->
    > It was Cyrillic not garbage and yes he did have to quote all
    > that or none of it would be in the Russian news group.<!--colorc--><!--/colorc-->

I interpreted that to mean that if no cyrillic characters appear in a
post, that the post would not appear in the newsgroup
microsoft.public.ru.russian.server - which is one of two groups that
this thread is being cross-posted to, or perhaps you didn't notice that.

I had a look at the newsgroup microsoft.public.ru.russian.server (which
had no posts in it save for this thread) and indeed I do see this entire
thread there, including posts which contain no cyrillic characters.

    That's why I said:
    <!--coloro:blue--><span style="color:blue <!--/coloro-->
    > You'd better have a look and see what's there.<!--colorc--><!--/colorc-->

As a way to tell him that these posts _are_ showing up in the russian
newsgroup even though they do not contain cyrillic characters (and hence
there was no need to full-quote the entire OP).

Well, not on the server I use (aioe.org) which (admittedly) doesn't
archive beyond maybe a few weeks.

Replying to you from aioe.org ............. I agree that there are NO
    other posts showing in aioe.org.

I usually use news.microsoft.com to access the groups of Microsoft.

The crosspost becomes the initial post for that group, no? Without
fullquoting there would be no communication.

I don't think Virus Guy has the needed language files installed to view Cycrillic and thus
    his confusion on this matter.

    You're being kind.

I'm sure he realizes that not everyone will see the same symbols that he
does. He may be missing the subtle way that crossposting works in this
instance - and the need to fullquote whatever content was in the
    intitial post.

You are completely wrong about that.

Having a converstation doesn't mean that everything is always repeated
or carried over from the last post to the current post.

It is improper usenet posting style to drag the complete contents of the
previous post into the current post, especially if you do not address
any of it's points or content.

People habitually use that style (top-posting and full-quoting) when
responding to e-mail (which is also inefficient and a waste of space)
and people simply carry that style over to usenet posting (which is
completely bad form in a public forum).

What communication were you attempting to further or insure by
full-quoting the original cyrillic text? Your explanation is
disengenuous, or you are deluding yourself.

That is irrelvent. Even it I did, what difference would it make? The
message borders on being spam as far as M.P.S.V is concerned. The text
would be just as unintelligible even if I had the correct font
    installed.

And you have yet to clarify your previous statement:

What exactly were you trying to say?

I'm betting that the vast majority of people reading M.P.S.V do not have
cyrillic fonts or language support installed on their system (I don't
think that cyrillic language support is default on the typical US /
Western English installation of any version of Windoze).

But again that doesn't matter. The characters would be just as
unintelligible to most people regardless if the text was displayed in
it's proper font. What part of that concept do you guys not understand?

I'm saying it was completely useless to full-quote the OP regardless how
the characters are rendered for most people. Especially since there is
little to no traffic or apparent readership in the russian group
    anyways.

What "subtle" way does crossposting work in this instance? Please
explain. I want to hear your logic.
    <!--coloro:blue--><span style="color:blue <!--/coloro-->
    > - and the need to fullquote whatever content was in the

There was no need. The text was unintelligible regardless how it's
rendered. Your reponse was not crafted in any way as a reponse to the
OP anyways, so your argument for the need to full-quote is bogus.

And why did you not post that garbage in
    microsoft.public.ru.russian.server?

Do you think the OP will read it here you moron?
