    HI,
I have a problem accessing my folders on my Desktop, I hope this will make sense. I would like to be able to stream my music and video direct form my Desktop to my Laptop and Tablet. I have a Desktop machine running Windows 7, a Laptop running Windows 7 and an Android tablet. I have a separate hard drive on my Desktop where I store all my media files i.e. music and video. I have the same issue with both the Laptop and the Android tablet. I can see the hard drive and I can see all the folders on it, but when I try to open a folder I am getting the "The Account Has No Permissions" message. This also happens when I try to access any folders on the C drive i.e. Documents etc. I have been all through the Share options but cannot see what is wrong. In Advance Sharing options I have made sure that all the Sharing options are on and the Password protect is off. On the tablet I am using ES File Explorer. Can anyone help me please?

What file formatting is the extra hard drive? Did you use it in another version of Windows by chance originally?

    Hi, thanks for your response.
The drive is formatted as NTFS. Yes, the drive has been in a Windows 8 machine where it was partitioned and then put into the Windows 7 machine.
    Hope you can help.

P.S. I like the your dog.

Awww Freyja is a sweetie. She actually is a rescue and was a stray believe it or not and that photo is from the night we first brought her home at 5 mos.

There is a difference between Windows 8 and Windows 7 format probably because of Secure Boot and UEFI bios that makes another version of Windows think the files are
password protected. Easies way around that would be to use a Linux live-cd with an attached usb external drive big enough to transfer the files over to the external drive, then format the other drive
NTFS but in Windows 7 and drag and drop or copy and paste the files to the newly formatted drive otherwise you will have to alter the files permissions individually which will take forever and a day to do.
I love Pc Linux and think it is the easiest one to use.
