TSL issuing multiple Device CALs

I have a W2K3 R2 SP2 Server running TS License Server. We purchased,
installed Device CALs and activated them.
After several weeks of running, I ran the lsreport.exe from the
Resource Kit and see that some clients have received up to 3 Device
CALs. We have a combination of WinXP, Win2K and thin clients. Most
of the clients receiving multiple CALs are WinXP PC's. Device CAL
licensing should only be one license per device, no matter who logs
    into the system.

Anyone aware of why this is happening?
Is there a way to remove only one CAL from a client and present it
    back to the License Server?

Thanks in advance for the help.

  2. Have you deleted any registry key?

This happens when you try to delete the already issued CAL entry on the
client and along with that you delete the HWID key (which is a randomly
generated key used to uniquely identify the client).
If that is the case, please don't play around with registry unless really
    required.

Also, for the CALs which have already been issued to the clients, they will
get back to the license server after they expire. As your client is using
only one license at a time, and rest all were issued to the same client with
different HW ID which is not there now. So, they are the unused CALs for
license server and will get back to the available pool once they expire.

    Hope that helps!
    Thanks
    Silvia
