Trouble with Remote Desktop not logging in?

Discussion in 'Windows Home Server' started by tlc_13200@hotmail.com, Oct 1, 2009.

  1. Server 2003, (not sure if it's R2 or not) however, they're using a remote
program, and it isn't being seen... although, I only added printers onto the
server yesterday so that the network can see printers... did nothing more
than apply sharing rights to the printer.

Any idea as to why the remote software can't talk to the server? The network
and workstations are seeing the internet, although maybe the server could be
down and the internet is still working beside the point.

    Any suggestions, open to hear?

(Note: Having customer contact Verizon to see if they have dynamic or static
IP, maybe it's dynamic and it changed somehow?

Hard to say unless you post full configuration details. Just pretend you're
trying to instruct someone to set up a Remote Desktop connection, then post
the relevant settings that you would tell him.

  3. Found out he is using dynamic IP instead of static... I think now that's his
problem/issue... having him order DSL Extreme for service of Static IP.
