So the past week or so on my laptop I have been getting the message The connection has timed out.

If I reload the page once or sometimes several times it finally goes through.

It is through my wireless router, but my iPhone is connecting just fine through the wifi and my desktop which is hardwired through the wireless router hasn't had this problem at all.

What is going on? I would love any help to get this problem solved, tired of reloading pages or just no reliability with the laptop.

Just did it again trying to submit this post. Please help.

Is this happening on all pages or just some selected ones? It may be the router that is timing out and may need to be reset. Have you tried unplugging it and waiting about a minute and plugging it in again?

I have reset the modem and router but haven't unplugged it like you mentioned. It is happening on all pages not one page in particular.

Took 3 times to load this thread back up.

I figure it has to do something with the computer because my iPhone is not having a problem and my wifes computer worked perfectly on Wednesday when she worked from home using her laptop.

Also try "pinging" a website to test your wireless card.

Go to "Start" menu, then typing "cmd" in the search box. Click on the "cmd" program that appears to be taken to a DOS prompt. At the prompt, type in "ping" followed by a space and the name of a website (e.g. "ping www.google.com"). If all of your test packets are sent and received without problem, your card is working fine.

Have you tried Hardwiring your laptop and seeing if the problem still exists?

Any clues to why it would fail the first time and work the second?

Well then I reloaded all 12 tabs again and they all reloaded with no problems.

Not sure what happened, but hard wiring it and reconnecting to my wireless, now it is connecting. Sure this won't last.

OK but now I am not sure what you are saying. Is the cable is still connecting the router to the computer or has it been removed?
